Five things to check before you book
1. Coverage for your suburb. Sydney is a big metro area. Before booking, confirm the provider actually services your region — Inner West, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Parramatta, Sutherland Shire or wherever you are. A quick call with your suburb avoids a wasted booking.
2. What the quote includes. A good quote names the pest being treated, the areas covered (internal, external, roof void), how many visits are included and any preparation you need to do. Vague "general spray" quotes often lead to follow-up costs.
3. Licensing and insurance. In NSW, pest management technicians must hold an EPA licence to use pesticides professionally. It is reasonable to ask a provider to confirm their licence status before treatment — the NSW EPA publishes guidance on engaging a pest management technician.
4. Inspection before treatment. For termites especially, treatment without inspection is guesswork. Ask whether the visit includes a proper look at entry points, moisture and conducive conditions.
5. Safety and re-entry guidance. Families, pets and food businesses all need clear advice on preparation and when it is safe to re-enter treated areas. Ask before the technician arrives, not after.
