Professional spider control treats the places spiders hide and build webs, including eaves, window frames, garages, sheds, fences, letterboxes and garden edges, and removes existing webs. Because spiders feed on other insects, treating ants, cockroaches and other pests at the same time gives the best result.

Spiders we commonly treat

Sydney is also home to the funnel-web spider, which is medically significant. Funnel-webs live in burrows in damp, sheltered spots, and treatment reduces but cannot guarantee against wandering males, which are most active on warm, humid nights. Keep shoes off the ground outside, check gloves and towels, and follow first-aid guidance if a bite occurs.

How our spider treatment works

  1. Inspect for webs, egg sacs and hiding spots, inside and out.
  2. Treat eaves, window and door frames, garages, sheds, fences, play areas and garden edges with a residual treatment.
  3. Remove webs where they can be reached, and advise on clutter, lighting and vegetation that attract spiders.

Spiders do not die on contact the way insects do. They need to touch the treated surface, so you may still see some for a week or two after the treatment.

Who books spider treatments

Families with young children and pets, homes backing onto bushland, rentals before new tenants move in, and businesses with outdoor seating or storage areas. Spider treatments are often combined with a general pest treatment for broader protection.

Is it safe for kids and pets?

Xpest uses products registered with the APVMA (the national regulator), applied to label directions by a licensed technician. Before we start, we tell you how to prepare, which areas to keep children and pets away from, how long to wait before re-entry, and what to do with pet bowls, fish tanks and bedding.

What does it cost?

General pest treatments start from $199 one-off or $15 a month on a subscription (see the pricing guide). Your exact price depends on the property size, the pest and how established the activity is, and it is confirmed before any work starts.

Spider Treatments by region

In Sydney, NSW

In Sydney, we treat homes from the Northern Beaches to the Sutherland Shire, including bushland-edge properties where funnel-web and redback awareness matters most.

On the Sunshine Coast, QLD

On the Sunshine Coast, warm, humid conditions keep spiders and their insect food active for much of the year, so many homes book spider treatments as part of a regular general pest plan.

Common questions

How long does a spider treatment last?

It depends on weather, rain exposure and how much insect activity there is around the home. Many households treat once or twice a year as part of regular pest control.

Can you treat around kids’ play areas?

Yes. We treat play equipment and fences with care, and tell you how long to keep children and pets away before the area can be used again.

Will I still see spiders after the treatment?

Some, for a week or two, because spiders must walk across the treated surface. Activity should then drop noticeably.
